Recycle a cereal box to make a bear that can climb up and down a tree.
What You Need
- Piece of lightweight cardboard (A file folder or cereal box works well.)
- Crayons
- Glue
- Bear and tree patterns
- Scissors
- Stapler
What You Do
- Download and Print the Pattern
Download and print the bear and tree patterns. - Color and Glue the Pattern
Color the bear and the tree shown on the pattern. Glue the pattern sheet onto a piece of cardboard. Set aside to dry. - Cut Out Tree and Bear
Cut out the tree and the bear. Staple the bear onto a 9” x ¾” piece of cardboard. - Cut Slit in Tree Trunk
Cut a slit in the bottom of the tree trunk (as shown on the pattern). Slide the bear’s handle through the slit. Then use the handle to move the bear up and down the tree as directed by the poem:Little Bear, Little Bear,
Climb up in the tree.
Little Bear, Little Bear,
Tell me what you see.
Little Bear, Little Bear,
Be careful not to fall.
Little Bear, Little Bear,
Come down, let’s play ball.
