Ankylosaurs had wide backs. An Ankylosaurus could be five feet wide. That is almost as wide as a car!

Armor

Bony armor covered most of their bodies. Many ankylosaurs even had armor on their eyelids!

Legs

Strong, muscular legs carried these heavy dinosaurs.

Stomach

Ankylosaurs had giant stomachs and guts. They needed a lot of space to digest all the plants they ate.

Spikes

Most ankylosaurs had large spikes as part of their armor. Some spikes stuck straight up and others stuck out to the side.

Tail

Some ankylosaurs had bony clubs at the ends of their tails. They had strong muscles to swing the clubs

from side to side.
