This month I want to encourage you to share with your child the videos featured in Ranger Rick Jr. magazine and available on the RangerRick.org website. Using the QR codes that appear on pages of the magazine makes it easy to view the videos.
If you don’t already have a QR Reader on your phone, free versions are available for all Apple and Android smart phones. I’ve also included the web addresses for each of the videos listed below in case you don’t have access to the QR reader.
- On page 4 of the magazine, your child will discover that seahorses are the world’s slowest fishes. Scan the QR code in the seahorse photo to show your child how seahorses swim. rangerrick.org/seahorse-swim
- Read the poems on pages 6–11 to learn about different kinds of penguins. Then scan the QR code on page 10 to watch a video about penguins. Ask your child how the different kinds of penguins are alike. How are they different? rangerrick.org/penguin-video
- On pages 16–17, your child will meet a bird that talks with its feet. Scan the QR code to see how this bird does it. Then encourage your child to do the blue-footed booby dance with you. rangerrick.org/booby-dance
- You can find a QR code for a video of a sea otter mom and baby on page 22. rangerrick.org/sea-otter-video
You’ll have even more fun reading Ranger Rick Jr. with your child when you scan the QR codes found in the magazine. Enjoy the holidays with your family.
¡Hola! Read “Animal Talk” from pages 16-21 in Spanish.
