
Go Fish!
Lots of animals eat fish. But different kinds of animals have their own special ways of catching them.
Read It!- When a grizzly bear wants to eat, it wades into a river, opens wide, and grabs a fish with its mouth.
- A fishing cat must get wet if it wants to eat. This cat wades into shallow water and snags a passing fish with its sharp teeth or claws.
- An anglerfish has a built-in “fishing pole” on its head. The tip looks like a worm. When a smaller fish tries to take the “bait,” the anglerfish gobbles it up.
- A great blue heron uses its long, sharp bill to spear the fish it eats.
- A raft spider sits with its front legs in the water. When it feels movement, the spider dives in and grabs a fish swimming by.
- A pelican has a net-like pouch that hangs from the bottom of its bill. The bird uses it to scoop up fish.
- An eagle swoops down and grabs a fish out of the water with its sharp talons.
