Nocturnal Animals: Colossal Squid

The largest eyes in the animal kingdom ever studied are 11 inches across, roughly the size of soccer balls! They belong to the colossal squid. Its eyes face forward, which helps it judge depth and distance, and their great size helps them see deep in the ocean, where there is very little light. Scientists think these may be the biggest eyes that ever existed.
