Ranger Rick Zoobooks Zooworks Contest Deadlines: Send an original poem or drawing about ostriches and other ratites by June 15, 2026. Winning entries will be chosen to appear on the special Zooworks page printed inside the Ranger Rick Zoobooks Ostriches and Other Ratites issue in November 2026.
We are also accepting original poems or drawings about dolphins and porpoises, which should be submitted by August 3, 2026. Winning entries will be chosen to appear on the special Zooworks page printed inside the Ranger Rick Zoobooks Dolphins and Porpoises issue in December 2026.
Submission Rules
- Stories & poems must be less than 100 words.
- Drawings must be on solid white paper (no lines).
- Only images in JPG format will be accepted.
We love seeing all the submissions from our readers. We’re sorry, but there’s room to print only some of them. All submissions become the property of the National Wildlife Federation.
