Queen Anne's Lace

Did you know the flower called Queen Anne’s lace will absorb color if you put it in a pitcher of colored water?

What You Need

  • Containers
  • Food coloring
  • Queen Anne’s Lace

What You Do

  1. Gather your flowers
    Take a walk around the yard and gather several Queen Anne’s Lace flowers.

  2. Fill containers
    Fill several containers with water.
  3. Add food coloring
    Dye the water in each container with a different color of food coloring.
  4. Add flowers
    Place some Queen Anne’s Lace in each container.
  5. Watch for Results!
    How long did it take for the colored water to travel up the stem and color the flowers?
    Make some colorful arrangements!
