Pine-Cone Turkeys

Make turkeys out of pine cones to liven up your Thanksgiving table.

What You Need

  • pine cone
  • autumn leaves
  • googly eyes
  • round tree nut (such as an acorn or a hickory nut)
  • yellow felt
  • red felt
  • tacky glue
  • hot glue (optional)

What To Do

  1. To create the turkey’s tail, glue leaves to the bottom of the pine cone, as shown.
  2. Cut a triangle bill from yellow felt, and a snood from red felt. Glue these shapes and the googly eyes onto the nut to create the turkey’s head.
  3. Glue the turkey’s head onto the pine-cone body. (You can use hot glue instead of tacky glue for this step. The glue will dry much quicker—but ask an adult for help.)
