Make a ring-trailed lemur out of clay.
What You Need
- Aluminum foil
- White, black, and gray polymer clay (available at most craft stores)
- Cookie sheet
- Small piece of yellow felt
- Craft glue
- Black marker
- Plastic table covering
What You Do
- Prepare the Clay
Cover your work surface with the plastic covering. Massage small amounts of clay until it is pliable. - Make the Body and Legs
Use the gray clay to make the following pieces:- Flat oval (2” long) for the body
- 4 snake-like pieces (3” long for the legs)
- Make the Face
Use the white clay to make a triangle (about 1 1/2” across) for the face. Use the black clay to make the lemur’s eyes, nose, and ears. - Make the Tail
Roll two snake-like pieces (3” long) out of the white and black clay. Twist them together like a candy cane. Use this piece for the tail. - Bake Your Lemur
Put all the pieces together and place them on a foil-covered cookie sheet. Bake the clay lemur for 15 minutes at 275° F. - Add Eyes
After you take the craft out of the oven, glue two small circles of yellow felt on your lemur for eyes. Draw on pupils with a black marker.
