This nutritious but fun recipe make a great summer dessert.

What You Need

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • Small cup (pudding cup, small plastic ware, etc)
  • Fruit (optional)
  • 1 box (3 oz) Jell-O™, strawberry flavor
  • 3/4 cup cold orange juice, pulp free
  • Construction paper or fun foam

What You Do

    1. Prepare Jell-O™
Start by dissolving the Jell-O™ with the boiling water according to the directions on the box. Add the cold water and orange juice. Chill for about 20–30 minutes (when the Jell-O™ starts to thicken up).
    2. Make Your Flower Cup
While the Jell-O™ is cooling, cut out your construction paper/foam flowers to go around the rim of the cups. Be sure to trace around the cup when forming the center of the flower so that it fits on the rim.
    3. Whip Up Mixture
After the 20–30 minute wait, use an electric mixer and whip up the mixture until it triples in size. This should take about 5 minutes on medium to high speed.
    4. Add Fruit and Serve
At this time you can add some fruit such as strawberries, orange, etc. You can either drink the dessert at this stage or put it in the refrigerator for about 20 more minutes and wait for it to turn into more of a foam consistency that you eat with a spoon. Either one’s fun when you serve it up in the flower cup.

      • Note: This recipe works great with a variety of flavors of Jell-O™ and fruit. Try all types of flavors.
