Make a turtle for your tub!
What You Need
- Bowl
- 4-6 drops of green food coloring
- Kitchen grater with large slots
- Turtle pattern
- Bar of soap (Ivory bath-size soap works best.)
- Small spoon
- Toothpick
- Tablespoon of water
- Wax paper
What You Do
- Prepare Soap
Grate the entire bar of soap into the bowl. Add the food coloring and water and mix with the grated soap to form a ball. - Cut Soap Into Turtle Shape
Place the ball on a sheet of wax paper and flatten the ball with the palm of your hand until it is about 1-1/2 inches thick.
Draw and cut out your own turtle shape or download the pattern.
Place the turtle template on top of the flattened soap. Use a spoon to carve along the outline of the turtle. Smooth the carved sides by slightly wetting the soap and rubbing the sides with your fingers. - Make Turtle’s Shell
Shape the excess soap into an oval. This will become the turtle’s shell. Remove the template and secure the turtle’s shell in place.
Use a toothpick to make indentations for the turtle’s eyes and lines on its shell. - Let Turtle Soap Dry
Place the turtle soap in a warm spot to dry overnight.
Peel off the wax paper. Now your turtle soap is ready for a splash in the tub.
