Spikes

A stegosaur probably swung its spikey tail like a club at hungry, meat-eating dinosaurs.

Legs

The dinosaur’s back legs were longer than its front legs. At top speed, it was only as fast as a person jogging slowly.

Plates

Stegosaur plates did not grow out of the dinosaur’s spine. They grew from its skin.

Brain

For such a big animal, a stegosaur had a pretty small brain—only as big as a hot dog!

Beak

A stegosaur’s head was small and low to the ground. The dinosaur used its beak to take bites of low-growing plants.
