Juneteenth, celebrated each year on June 19th, marks the day in 1865 when enslaved African-Americans in Texas were finally informed of their freedom, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. 159 years later, Black communities across the country are still fighting for freedom–-freedom to have clean air, clean water, and healthy environments. Today and everyday, we thank the environmental justice leaders who continue to fight for these freedoms, as it has not only benefited their communities, but all communities.

Stegosaurs are easy to recognize. They all had two rows of bony plates or spikes running along their necks, backs, and tails. Scientists once thought these plates protected the dinosaurs—just as armor protects soldiers. Now they think the plates helped stegosaurs show off for mates or tell each other apart!
