  1. SIFAKA: This tree-dwelling animal is sometimes called a “leaping lemur.” When it is on the ground, it moves by bouncing along on two legs.
  2. GREEN-EARED CHAMELEON: This reptile lives in rainforest trees. It has a long, pointy snout and a horny crest.
  3. GIRAFFE WEEVIL: This beetle uses his extra-long neck to fight other males. Females have much shorter necks.
  4. TENREC: This little insect-eater is covered in sharp spines. It can “talk” to other tenrecs by rubbing some of these spines together.
  5. FOSSA: This animal looks like a cross between a cat and a dog, but it isn’t related to either. With its sharp claws, it can climb up and down trees with ease.
  6. INDRI: This animal is known as the “singing lemur.” Its loud calls sound like music as they echo through the forest.
  7. TOMATO FROG: This frog’s red skin warns other animals to stay away. Its skin oozes a nasty, gummy liquid if the frog is attacked.
  8. GIANT COUA: This large bird seldom flies. Instead, it walks along the forest floor, looking for insects and seeds to eat.
