This classic recipe for homemade applesauce will make your kitchen smell like fall!
What You Need
- 5-6 apples
- cinnamon
- sugar
- 3/4 cup water
What You Do
- Prepare the Apples
Wash and peel apples. Remove the core and cut the apples into small pieces about the size of an ice cube. - Cook Apples in Saucepan
Put the apple pieces and water in medium saucepan. Cover and simmer apples over medium heat until tender (about 20 – 30 minutes). Stir about every 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let the apples cool for a little while. - Mash Apples
For extra-smooth applesauce, let your child mash the apples with a potato masher. Then he/she can help stir in cinnamon and sugar to taste. (For every teaspoon of cinnamon about 1 tablespoon of sugar is needed.) - Enjoy!
Enjoy your applesauce!
