Coffee Filter Flowers

A little water makes these coffee filter flowers burst with color!

What You Need

  • 2 coffee filters
  • Washable markers
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Spray bottle filled with water

What You Do

  1. Color the Coffee Filters
Place the coffee filter on a piece of paper. Let your child scribble all over the coffee filter with washable markers. The more ink that goes on the filter, the more colorful the flower will be. Repeat with the other coffee filter.
  2. Wrap Pipe Cleaner Around Filters
Place the two filters on top of each other. Locate the middle of the circle and pinch the filters there to form a crinkly blossom with the edges. Wrap the chenille stem around the pinched area.
  3. Spray Coffee Filters with Water
Now get ready to “water” the flower. Fill a spray bottle with water and take it along with the flower outside. Let your toddler spray the flower liberally with water. Watch as the colors run together to create a beautiful watercolor blossom. Hang it upside-down outside to dry.
  4. Repeat Steps 1-3
Repeat these steps to make a beautiful bouquet that will last forever. If desired, you can spray a bit of perfume on the blossoms so they smell as nice as they look.coffee filter flowers
