Put extra spring in your little joey’s bounce with this nutritious pouch lunch.
What You Need
- Green leaf lettuce, washed
- 1 pear, washed
- 1 of pita bread, sliced in half
- Raisins or almonds
- Flavored yogurt
What You Do
- Prepare the Pear
Cut the pear in half lengthwise. One of the halves will become the joey’s face. Cut ears out of the other pear slice. Arrange the face on the lettuce so that it appears to “peek” out of the pocket, and add the ears. - Add Eyes and Nose
Use small dabs of yogurt to hold the almonds (or raisins) in place to make eyes and a nose. - Stuff the Pita Pocket
After admiring the pouch lunch, slice the pear slices into bite-size pieces, and stuff them inside the pocket to eat. Add more almonds or raisins if desired. Drizzle yogurt on top as a dressing.
