Going to the beach this summer? Create an espe-SHELL-y fun work of art with the treasures you find!

What You Need

  • picture frame
  • craft glue
  • sand
  • seashells
  • blue paper
  • googly eyes
  • paint (optional)

What You Do

1. Remove the glass and backing from your picture frame. Cut a piece of blue paper the same size as the glass and place it in the frame. Replace the glass and backing in the frame (behind the blue paper).

2. Apply a thin layer of glue at the bottom of the paper. Sprinkle with sand and shake off the excess. Glue some shells in the sand, as shown.

3. Arrange other shells into sea animal shapes and glue in place. You can use broken shells, too. The pieces make great fins, flippers, and tails! If you want, paint the shells before gluing them on the paper.

4. Glue googly eyes onto the animals.

CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB “SHELL” DONE!

➡️ NATURE NOTE: Before you collect any seashells from the beach, be sure it’s not against the law where you are. Also make sure the shells you pick up are empty.
